Dr. John McGinn is a general otolaryngologist, with particular interest and expertise in rhinology. After achieving his Bachelor of Science degree at Penn State University at University Park, PA, he pursued his medical school education at the Penn State College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at Eastern Virginia Graduate Medical School in Norfolk, VA, and initially entered private practice in the Pittsburgh area for 2 years. Dr. McGinn transitioned back to the academic setting and has been on staff at Penn State Health Milton Hershey Medical Center since 2003. Currently a Professor in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, he also serves as Vice Chair of the Department, as well as Residency Program Director, which allows for the combination of his patient care and educational interests. He serves on several regional and national surgical committees, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. McGinn's clinical practice focuses on rhinology and laryngology, but he cares for the breadth of general otolaryngologic illnesses. He strives to integrate technology into his practice, including image guidance for complex sinus surgery and sinonasal tumor resection, balloon dilation techniques in chronic rhinosinusitis, digital videostroboscopy, and lasers.
